SCOPE OF WORKS

The scope of work comprises the following.

  • Irrigation Development on the left and right banks of the Ruhuhu River in Manda and Lituhi Wards
    • Detailed Irrigation System Engineering design for about 7,000 ha; Soil sampling and analysis for about 3,200 ha; Identification of major crops and livestock pests and diseases in the project area.
  • Water Supply and Sanitation: Assessment of possibilities to provision of safe and reliable domestic water supply and sanitation for about 12,000 inhabitants in the Manda and Lituhi Wards and surrounding communities;
  • Transportation link across the Ruhuhu River. Assessment for construction of 100m length bridge across Ruhuhu river.
  • Hydropower generation and distribution: The generation of electricity (medium- to large-scale for feeding into the national grid, or small-scale for local use). Assess and Evaluated possibilities of Hydroelectric power dam with an estimated initial dam height of 120m from the riverbed, capable of producing as high as 400MW on estimate at Litumba Kuhamba within Ruhuhu river;
  • Flood control on the Ruhuhu delta by assessing the management of high-water flows
